There is just over a month to go until London Fashion Week SS14 , and so naturally we are already getting a little over excited about the provisional schedule. The capital is famed and acclaimed for supporting and nourishing young talent and iconoclasts, and those are exactly the designers we are previewing for you here. See you at Somerset House!
London Fashion Week SS14: Day 1 – Friday 13th September 2013
J. JS Lee: Korean-born Lee, a master pattern cutter and graduate of Central Saint Martins’ prestigious MA programme, is part of Topshop’s NEWGEN lineup this season. Named one of the capital’s new minimalists by ELLE magazine, she describes her signature look as “chic […] modernist tailoring” for women who want to look “sharp in a uniquely feminine way.” We can’t wait to see what she has in store for Spring/Summer ’14.

London Fashion Week SS14: Day 2 – Saturday 14th September 2013
Sister by Sibling: No brand does knitwear like design trio Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery, better known as Sister by Sibling. Their witty, elaborate and tactile creations represent London’s playful, rebellious and creative spirit perfectly. Last season’s London Fashion Week AW13 show was styled by industry supremo Katie Grand and opened by Cara Delevingne, so we’re expecting great things again for SS14.

palmer//harding: Central Saint Martins graduates Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding caused quite the stir in the fashion industry when they launched their signature “quietly beautiful shirts” for both men and women in 2011. They describe fashion editors and journalists Caroline Issa, Carmen Borgonovo and Chioma Nnadi as their inspiration and ideal clients. We’re expecting a cool, intelligent presentation from the industry’s fresh and favourite duo.
Ostwald Helgason: Modern silhouettes, texture and print – meet German and Icelandic design duo Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason. Stocked by Browns, we loved Spring’s printed cube bags and animal-print sweatshirts. Ostwald takes inspiration from fine art, Helgason from new technology, guaranteeing intriguing and beautiful collections each season.
London Fashion Week SS14: Day 3 – Sunday 15th September 2013
1205: Like JS Lee, 1205 designer Paula Gerbase is one of London’s new minimalists, describing her modern tailored pieces as restrained, considered and thoughtful. Another member of Central Saint Martin’s esteemed alumni, Gerbase worked previously at Hardy Amies and Savile Row tailors Kilgour, hence her elegant emphasis on tailoring that blurs the masculine and feminine divide. Expect beautiful fabrics and flawless cuts.

London Fashion Week SS14: Day 4 – Monday 16th September 2013
Sophie Hulme and Sophia Webster: Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto, Erdem, Burberry Prorsum – fashion week’s 4th day is bound to go down as a manic but very stylish Monday. Despite the number big hitters dominating the schedule, editors and buyers are sure to make time to visit presentations from born-and-bred Londoners Sophie Hulme and Sophia Webster. Expect flawless leather totes with gold hardware from Hulme, designed from her Islington digs in the north of the capital. From Sophia, acclaimed protégé of Nicholas Kirkwood, look no further for fun, witty heels in paint-box brights.

London Fashion Week SS14: Day 5 – Tuesday 17th September 2013
Simone Rocha: By this point editors are sure to be hiding blurry eyes behind sunglasses and drinking double-strength coffee, but the prospect of Simone Rocha’s 10am show is sure to excite. Rocha almost singlehandedly made pink look cool again for AW13, so we can’t wait to see what she has in store for London Fashion Week SS14. We’re hoping its more of her off-kilter girlishness and femininity.
Thomas Tait: Yet another Central Saint Martins alumnus on London Fashion Week’s main schedule (and the youngest student ever to complete the school’s prestigious MA), Canadian designer Thomas Tait made an immediate and confident impression upon graduating in 2010. Structure and fluidity are his design watchwords and his collections have already been snapped up by Dover Street Market and Matches Fashion.
